The College of Marin women’s volleyball team earned a strong road win on Friday, October 3, defeating Napa Valley College in four sets (25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15).
The Mariners came out steady and efficient, winning the first two sets with consistent serving and balanced offense before closing out the match in the fourth. Richel Gumpal led the attack with 10 kills, while Zillah Landrum followed closely with 9 kills on 38 attempts. Madeleine Butler added 8 kills and hit an impressive .333, contributing on both ends of the court.
At the net, Elle Dickson continued her steady play with 8 kills and two block assists, and Anissa Inthavong chipped in 3 kills and 2 total blocks. Marin’s serving made a difference, totaling 8 aces, led by Maia Cruz with 3 and Ryli Bowen with 2.
Defensively, Bowen anchored the back row with 15 digs, while Allie Bertolina added 12, helping keep long rallies alive for Marin. Meagan Lee and Bowen combined for 27 assists to guide the offense.
The win places the Mariners' record as 1-1 in Bay Valley Conference play. The Mariners will take on Solano College on Friday, October 10th, at 6 PM in Fairfield.
