Mariners Sweep San Francisco and Skyline in Straight Sets

The College of Marin women’s volleyball team turned in a dominant day on the road Friday, sweeping both City College of San Francisco and Skyline College in straight sets at San Francisco. 

The Mariners opened the day with a 3–0 win over San Francisco (25–14, 25–15, 25–15). Amber Lincoln powered the offense with eight kills on an efficient .462 hitting percentage, while Anissa Inthavong added 10 kills to lead all scorers. Setter Maia Cruz directed the attack with 14 assists, and Marin kept steady pressure from the service line with 10 aces, including three from Zillah Landrum. Defensively, the Mariners limited San Francisco to just .068 hitting as a team, holding them under .050 in the first two sets. 

In the second match, Marin kept their momentum rolling with another 3–0 sweep over Skyline (25–20, 25–22, 25–18). Lincoln once again led the charge with 10 kills, while Richel Gumpal chipped in eight and Elle Dickson added six. The Mariners’ balanced attack was set up by strong playmaking from both Cruz (13 assists) and Meagan Lee (14 assists, two aces). Marin also turned up the defensive intensity, digging 41 Skyline attacks, led by libero Ryli Bowen with 17. 

With the two victories, Marin improves to 4–2 on the season and has now won its last three matches in straight sets. 

The Mariners return to action on Wednesday, September 17th, and they will travel to Saratoga to take on the West Valley College Vikings at 5:00 PM.
