The College of Marin women’s volleyball team showed resilience and grit on Friday, September 19, battling through five intense sets to defeat San Jose City College on the road. The Mariners secured the victory with set scores of 25-20, 16-25, 25-22, 24-26, and 17-15.
Marin relied on balanced contributions across the lineup. Elle Dickson led the attack with 12 kills and added three blocks to total 13.5 points. Anissa Inthavong powered the offense with 10 kills, while Amber Lincoln matched her with 10 kills and chipped in 16 digs. Richel Gumpal and Zillah Landrum added steady support at the net, combining for 11 kills.
On the defensive side, Ryli Bowen anchored the back row with a team-high 20 digs, while Madeleine Butler provided a spark with a block solo and a block assist. Marin also excelled at the service line, tallying 12 aces overall, led by Bowen (3) and Isabelle Nicholas (4).
With the match on the line in the decisive fifth set, the Mariners stayed composed and edged out the Jaguars 17-15, closing the night with a hard-earned victory.
The win improves Marin’s momentum as they prepare for the upcoming Mariner tri with Galivan and Lassen on September 26th in Kentfield, CA.
