Title: Head Women's Soccer Coach

A three-time California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Coach of the Year, Salzmann led Sonoma State University to five conference championships, nine NCAA Tournament appearances, and developed eight All-Americans over her 13 playable seasons as head coach. Her teams were known not just for winning, but for cultivating a culture of excellence on and off the field, including earning the highest team GPA in the department's history.

"Emiria is exactly the kind of coach who transforms lives," said Ryan Byrne, Director of Athletics at College of Marin. "She brings an elite competitive mindset paired with a deep commitment to student growth, academic success, and inclusive team culture."

Salzmann coaching career began at Santa Rosa Junior College, where she posted a 66-10-12 record and won four straight Big 8 Conference titles. In 2008, she was named both NSCAA West Region and National Coach of the Year after leading SRJC to a 27-2-0 record and a #3 national ranking, the best in program history.

Off the field, Salzmann has built a legacy of mentorship. She has coached five CCAA Players of the Year, guided over 150 student-athletes to academic honors, and in 2017 received Sonoma State's Valor Award for heroically responding to a medical emergency that saved a student-athlete's life.

A former standout striker at Sonoma State herself, Salzmann remains the school's second all-time leading goal scorer and was inducted into the university's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. She also played professionally in the Netherlands and with multiple U.S.-based semi-pro clubs.

"I've always loved the challenge of growing programs and creating team cultures that people can be proud of," Salzmann said. "If you build something special, it will attract the right people to you. I'm bringing that same dedication to College of Marin."

"My job as a coach is to help players see what they can't yet see in themselves," she continued. "That takes honesty, trust, and a shared commitment to excellence. I want our players to walk away knowing they are strong, capable, and ready for anything, on the field and in life."

Salzmann has already begun onboarding and is eager to work with student-athletes this summer as she prepares for the fall season and helps shape the future of Mariners Athletics.
