The College of Marin Women’s Soccer team wrapped up their pre-season with a thrilling match against College of the Redwoods. Despite a close 4-5 loss, the Mariners showcased impressive skill and teamwork as they prepare for conference play. 

Standout Performances: 

  • Ellie Garcia was unstoppable, leading the offense with 7 shots on goal, netting 3 of them, and adding an assist. Her relentless play fueled Marin's attack throughout the match. 

  • Nicole Gutierrez contributed to the effort with 3 shots, 2 of which were on target, and chipped in with an assist. 

  • Hailey Poulter added to the scoring with a critical goal and assist, applying pressure to the opposition and keeping Marin in the fight. 

  • Midfielders Evelyn Melendez and May Qui also played key roles, staying active in creating opportunities and sustaining the team’s energy throughout the match. 

Goalkeeping: 

In goal, Amber Lincoln had a standout performance, facing 21 shots and making 16 crucial saves. This effort moved her into the #2 spot in the state rankings for saves, a remarkable achievement heading into conference play. 

Looking Ahead: 

Though the final scoreline read 4-5, the Mariners are optimistic as they head into the Bay Valley Conference season. They will face the Mendocino College Eagles in their home opener on Friday, September 27th at 4:00 PM, looking to build on their strong pre-season momentum.
