The College of Marin Women’s Basketball team is gearing up for the 2025–26 season with confidence and high expectations after a strong 2024–25 campaign that saw the Mariners finish 16–12 overall and 11–5 in conference play.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Emily Schaefer, now entering her sixth season, the Mariners are focused on taking the next step as a program.
“Our goal is to build on the momentum from last year and take the next step as a program,” Schaefer said. “We want to compete every day, play with intensity, and put ourselves in position to make a strong run in conference.”
The Mariners return nine sophomores, a veteran group that brings valuable experience, leadership, and toughness to the court. They’re joined by four freshmen who have already made an immediate impact, giving the team a healthy balance of proven talent and fresh energy.
“I’m excited to see how our competitiveness and experience come together,” Schaefer said. “This group has been putting in the work, and I can’t wait to see that translate into results on the court.”
The coaching staff also brings depth and expertise, with Assistant Coaches Amanda Lassiter (4th season), Aulani Leomiti (1st season), and Robin Goddard (1st season) joining Schaefer on the sidelines.
“This team has something special—a strong core, great chemistry, and a shared hunger to win,” Schaefer added. “Our returners have set the standard, and our freshmen have stepped right in and raised the bar. We’re ready to compete, grow, and make this season one to remember.”
With a blend of leadership, chemistry, and motivation, the Mariners are poised to make noise in the Bay Valley Conference once again—and they’re ready to turn last season’s success into an even deeper run this year.
The Mariners home opener is November 1st at 1 PM versus Skyline College. We hope to see you there!
