Mariners Dominate Don Barksdale Tournament with Back-to-Back Wins

The College of Marin women’s basketball team put together a commanding weekend performance at the 4th Annual Don Barksdale Tournament, securing decisive victories over Foothill College and Gavilan College on their home court.


Game 1: Marin 106, Foothill 35

The Mariners opened the tournament on Friday afternoon with an offensive explosion, rolling past Foothill College, 106–35. Marin shot an impressive 62% from the field, overwhelming the Owls from start to finish.

Sophomore Jamaia Harrison led the way with 19 points and 8 rebounds, while Bella Turner added 18 points and 7 boards in a strong all-around effort. Freshman Amara Galvan came off the bench hot, scoring 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from deep.

Marin’s balanced attack featured six players scoring in double figures, including Kamari Johnson (11) and Isabella Zepeda (8). The Mariners’ defense was equally impressive, forcing 31 turnovers and converting them into fast-break points to maintain control throughout all four quarters.


Game 2: Marin 75, Gavilan 42

On Saturday, the Mariners carried their momentum into another dominant win, taking down Gavilan College 75–42.

Isabella Zepeda led the scoring with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Emily Sauers also contributed 11 points and steady defensive play. Bella Turner and Kamari Johnson added 10 and 13 points, respectively, as Marin’s offense continued to shine.

The Mariners’ presence on the glass made the difference, outrebounding the Rams 49–28. Harrison once again made her mark, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 8 points.

Marin’s defense held Gavilan to just 25.9% shooting from the field, forcing 21 turnovers while dominating the paint on both ends.


With two convincing victories, College of Marin showcased its depth, energy, and balance—outscoring opponents 181–77 over the weekend. The Mariners will look to carry that momentum into the remainder of the non-conference schedule as they prepare for Bay Valley Conference play.
