Mariners Triumph Over Owls

The College of Marin Women’s Basketball team continued their early-season success with a 72-59 victory over the Foothill College Owls on Tuesday night. The Mariners showcased resilience, teamwork, and determination, leading to a commanding win at home. 

Samantha Morris led the Mariners with a game-high 20 points, shooting 6-for-19 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. Morris also contributed 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals, delivering a strong all-around performance. Isabella Zepeda followed with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, adding a notable presence in the paint. 

Bella Turner was a standout off the bench, contributing 13 points on efficient shooting from the free-throw line, where she made 7 of her 8 attempts. Her hustle on both ends of the court added a spark to the Mariners' offense and defense. Jamaia Harrison and Sierra Calantas chipped in 9 and 8 points, respectively, with Calantas grabbing 9 boards. 

Defensively, the Mariners were relentless, recording 17 steals and 8 blocks. The team’s aggressive approach allowed them to create multiple scoring opportunities, with 37 rebounds and a 75% success rate from the free-throw line proving crucial in securing the victory. 

With this win, the College of Marin Women’s Basketball team improves to 3-1. They look forward to their next match up against the San Jose City College Jaguars on Saturday November 19th at 3:00 PM in San Jose.
