Mariners Secures Victory over Panthers

The College of Marin Women’s Basketball team (7-8) battled with the Merritt College Panthers (5-11) from the tip-off. The Mariners demonstrated resilience and teamwork to edge out the opponents with a final score of 48-44.  

Both teams battled from the tip-off, Mariners relied on their defense and key plays from standout performers. Sophomore guard, Ty Chappell led the pact with 14 points shooting 6-8 from the free throw line. Freshman guard, Jamaia Harrison dominated the boards, she led the team with six defensive and one offensive rebounds.  

The Mariners’ depth also played a pivotal role in the win. Sierra Calantas added six points and grabbed six rebounds, showing her consistency on both ends of the court. Isabella Zepeda chipped in with five points, five rebounds, and two steals, solidifying the defensive efforts.

Next, The Mariners will be traveling to Ukiah, CA to face Mendocino College on Wednesday, January 8th at 7:30pm.
