The College of Marin women's basketball team showcased their dominance on January 10th, traveling to Los Medanos College to face off against the Mustangs. The Mariners delivered an impressive performance, defeating the Mustangs with a commanding score of 83-44. This victory highlighted the Mariners' strong defensive strategy, as they forced 24 turnovers and capitalized on their opponents' mistakes. 

Game Highlights: 

The Mariners demonstrated remarkable teamwork and consistency, shooting 41.9% from the field and 73.7% from the free-throw line. Their three-point shooting was also solid, with 33.3% of attempts finding the net. The team's ability to control the boards was evident, out-rebounding the Mustangs with 43 total rebounds (16 offensive, 27 defensive). 

Top Performers: 

  • Jaidyn Brown led the scoring effort with an outstanding 20 points in just 16 minutes of play. Her efficient shooting (7-for-11 from the field and 5-for-9 from three-point range) set the tone for the team's offense. 

  • Kamari Johnson and Ty Chappell each added 11 points, with Johnson also contributing three assists and Chappell showcasing defensive tenacity with three steals. 

  • MaTaya Sherman secured six rebounds and added four assists, while Samantha Morris chipped in with seven rebounds to lead the team's effort in the paint. 

The reserves also made significant contributions, with players like Bella Turner and Alora Thomas stepping up to keep the energy high throughout the game. The bench combined for 35 points, emphasizing the depth and versatility of the Marin roster.
