KENTFIELD, CA – The College of Marin women’s basketball team put together a strong all-around performance on Tuesday night, rolling past Napa Valley College, 71-50. With balanced scoring and a commanding presence on the boards, Marin controlled the game from start to finish.
The Mariners jumped out to an early 22-12 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. By halftime, they extended their advantage to 38-23, holding Napa Valley to just 11 second-quarter points. Marin kept their foot on the gas in the third, outscoring their opponents 20-8, before closing out the game despite a late push from Napa Valley.
Bella Turner led the way for Marin, finishing with a team-high 10 points while adding four rebounds. Isabella Zepeda had an all-around impressive game, recording 11 points and 12 rebounds to notch a double-double. Samantha Morris also made her presence felt in the paint, pulling down 11 rebounds while chipping in six points.
Marin dominated the glass, outrebounding Napa Valley 55-28, including 27 offensive rebounds that gave them numerous second-chance opportunities. Their defense was also active, forcing 12 turnovers and coming away with nine steals.
With the win, Marin continues to build momentum as they head into the final match of the regular season. They’ll look to carry this energy into their next matchup as they take on the Solano College Falcons on Thursday, February 20th, at 7:30 PM in Fairfield, CA.
