College of Marin Men's Soccer ended the season with some solid hardware. William Finnie was named to the Bay Valley All Conference First Team while Henry Mata Gonzalez and William Connelly were named to the All Conference Second Team.
Sophomore William Finnie started 18 matches in goal for the Mariners in the 2016 season in which he made 172 saves and had an .800 save percentage while also recording a pair of shutouts during the year. Finnie saved all nine opponents shots of goal in Marin's 2-0 victory of Siskiyous College on September 12th.
Sophomore midfielder Henry Mata Gonzalez was an omnipresent member of the 2016 Men's Soccer Team. He started all 20 of Marin's matches and found a way to contribute in nearly every one of them. Early in the season he was Marin's offensive force, scoring in three of the team's first four games. On the season he led Marin with six goals and was second on the squad with two assists.
Freshman William "Wilsie" Connelly had an excellent debut season for Marin. The midfielder played in 20 matches and scored a pair of goals during the year. He netted his first against Yuba College in the team's 3-2 victory on October 4th. His second came in the penultimate game of the season as he deftly headed in a corner kick against Bay Valley Champions Contra Costa College.
Connelly will be a headlining returner to the team in the 2017 season.
