The College of Marin baseball team saw its 2026 season come to a close after a hard-fought run in the 3C2A NorCal Regional Playoffs, hosted on their home field in Kentfield from May 1–3. In a double-elimination format filled with momentum swings, standout performances, and resilience, the Mariners finished the season with a 27–15 overall record.

Facing College of the Sequoias in an elimination game to open the tournament, the Mariners delivered a complete performance in a 4–0 victory. Bay Valley Conference, Pitcher of the Year, Anthony Del Prete was masterful on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout. He scattered just three hits over nine innings while striking out seven, keeping Sequoias off balance all afternoon. Offensively, Marin did all its damage early, plating four runs in the second inning. Adrian Ruiz got the scoring started and finished with an RBI, while John Bullock added two hits and drove in a run. Andrew Gamble delivered a key two-RBI hit, and extra-base hits from Ben Sebastiani, Will McLemore, and Gamble fueled the inning. The Mariners’ clean defensive effort and efficient pitching set the tone, advancing them to face the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs.

In front of an electric home crowd, Marin squared off with Santa Rosa Junior College in a game that quickly turned into a rollercoaster. After falling behind 8–0, the Mariners refused to fold. Sparked by a relentless offense, Marin stormed back to tie the game, highlighted by a four-RBI performance from Adrian Ruiz, who also launched a home run. The Mariners tallied 16 hits, with Gilbert Roth adding three hits and Aiden Romero, Noah Peterson, and Ben Sebastiani each going deep. Santa Rosa responded late to pull away, ending Marin’s comeback bid.

With their backs against the wall, the Mariners returned on Day Three needing a win to stay alive and force a doubleheader. Marin came out strong, scoring three runs in the first inning. Santa Rosa responded immediately, and the two teams traded punches throughout the game. Ben Sebastiani led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Dante Caiati and Andrew Gamble each collected multiple hits. A pinch-hit home run from Patrick Kozielec provided a late spark, but the Mariners couldn’t fully close the gap. Santa Rosa capitalized on timely hitting, including a pair of home runs from J.T. Summers, to secure a 7–4 victory and end Marin’s postseason run.
