Mariners Fall to Bear Cubs in Extra-Inning Battle

Ben Sebastiani had a productive day at the plate for the Mariners, going 4-for-6 with an RBI against Santa Rosa. 
 
The College of Marin Mariners lost a close extra-inning affair to Santa Rosa, falling 8-7 in Santa Rosa on Saturday. Santa Rosa secured the victory by scoring the decisive run in the top of the 13th inning. 
 
Marin initially fell behind as Santa Rosa scored four runs in the top of the first inning. The Mariners began to chip away at the deficit, scoring two runs in the third and three in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead. Santa Rosa responded with two runs in the seventh to regain the lead, 6-5. Marin then scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 6-6, sending it into extra innings after both teams traded a single run in the 10th inning. Patrick Kozielec was a key offensive contributor for the Mariners, going 2-6 with three RBI and two runs scored. Ben Sebastiani also had a strong performance at the plate, collecting four hits in six at-bats with one RBI. Dante Caiati added two hits and scored two runs, while Adrian Ruiz went 1-5 with an RBI and a run. 
 
Marin utilized seven pitchers in the contest. David Skaggs pitched 1.0 inning, allowing four earned runs on five hits and striking out one. Weston Phillips followed with 2.0 scoreless innings, recording one strikeout without allowing a hit. Logan Figlar contributed 2.0 innings, giving up no earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Blake Tipper delivered a solid outing, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings and allowing four hits with two strikeouts. Sam Schnitzer also kept Santa Rosa off the board through 2.0 innings despite giving up one hit and walking two.
