Game 1: March 24, 2026
The three-game set with Los Medanos began on the road in Pittsburg on a hot Tuesday afternoon. The temperature didn’t seem to affect the Mariners, who scored nine runs before anyone could get to their seat. It started with back-to-back walks from Adrian Ruiz and John Bullock, followed by a Will McLemore single to start the scoring. Ben Sebastiani and Gilbert Roth hit back-to-back singles, scoring Bullock and McLemore. Two crucial errors in the outfield allowed multiple runs to score as well. In the second time through the order, Ruiz smoked an RBI double into the right-center gap. Bullock followed that up with a two-run homer to make it 9-0.
Micah Marquez was able to put zeros on the board for the first two innings, but a fourth-inning grand slam cut the Mariner lead to five. Marin was able to add three more runs in the fifth on an error, a walk, and a hit, making the score 12-5.
Sebastian Elsner was lights out in relief, going four innings, only allowing one run while striking out seven.
The seventh inning began like the first, two walks to start the inning, this time it was Ruiz with another RBI double. After a bases-loaded walk, an RBI groundout, and a sac fly, the Mariners had added another five runs to make it 17-5. In the eighth, Dante Caiati followed up two walks with a two-RBI single through the middle to put the game well out of reach for the Mustangs. Los Medanos was able to add three in the ninth on a triple and a few singles, but it was too little too late.
Game 2: March 26, 2026
The Mariners started this game similarly to the last game. Adrian Ruiz led off with a single, Will McLemore added another knock, and Dante Caiati got hit by a pitch. This set the table for Gilbert Roth, who smashed a 0-1 slider off the netting in left field to make it 4-0 Mariners.
McLemore added another run in the fifth on a sac fly, but the story of this one was the pitching. Chas Veley started on the mound for Marin, and he went seven strong innings, only surrendering two runs. The sophomore struck out five while not walking or hitting any batters. The bullpen was lights out as well, going two shutout innings, striking out two. Sam Schnitzer would pick up his second save of the season. Marin won by a final score of 5-2
Game 3: March 27, 2026
In game three, the Mariners found themselves chasing the Mustangs down 1-0 after the first inning, but they had a quick response. Dante Caiati started the second with a double and came around to score on a Gilbert Roth single. After Roth stole second, Aiden Romero drove him in with a single of his own, making it 2-1 Mariners. Anthony Del Prete was able to hold the Mustangs scoreless from the second through the fourth.
After loading the bases in the fourth, a failed pickoff attempt allowed Dante Caiati and Ben Sebastiani to score. Roth was able to score on a passed ball, making the score 5-1.
In the fifth, the Mariners broke the game wide open, scoring nine runs on five hits and four walks. After the third out was made, it was 14-1. Los Medanos scored two in the seventh, but that was erased by Marin scoring one in the eighth and ninth. Marin won the game 16-6.
The Mariners will take on Mendocino next week with games on Tuesday in Kentfield, Thursday at Mendocino, and Friday at home.
