Game 1: March 10, 2026
The Mariners opened Bay Valley Conference play with a 3-0 sweep of the Contra Costa Comets, winning each game by at least 8 runs.
The series started with some offensive firepower by the Mariners. Andrew Gamble started his first at-bat with a two-run home run that got the scoring started. The Mariners added four more runs in the fourth on a Dante Caiati double and a few defensive miscues by the Comets.
After going quiet for a few innings, the Mariners created some breathing room with a 7-run seventh inning. After some walks, errors, and a sac fly from Ben Sebastiani, Gilbert Roth delivered the big blow with a two RBI double off the left field wall.
Micah Marquez led the way for the Mariners on the mound with six strong innings, punching out seven hitters and only surrendering one walk and two hits. The Mariner pitching staff had a great day, striking out 13 while walking 4 and allowing two hits.
Game 2: March 12, 2026
In game two, the Mariners responded quickly after going down 1-0 in the second by scoring two of their own in the third on a Gilbert Roth RBI double and an Aiden Romero SAC fly.
The Mariner offense was relentless, scoring in all but three innings, making any momentum hard to come by for the Comets. Marin blew it open in the eighth on a few walks, and another RBI double from Roth made the deficit too large to overcome.
On the pitching side, Charles Veley and Sebastian Elsner combined to throw a gem to support the Mariners' offensive efforts. Veley went 5 strong innings, striking out 7, while Elsner finished the game with four perfect innings, 12 up 12 down. The Mariners won 10-1
Game 3: March 14, 2026
In the final game of the series, the Comets' offense tested the Mariners, but they were able to hold them down long enough to get the win 15-6.
Marin started fast, scoring eight runs in the second inning to take an 8-0 lead on a few walks and a Ben Sebastiani two RBI double. After adding two more in the fourth, the Comets' offense showed signs of life, scoring five runs on a few walks and two singles, one each from Luca Saroyan and Julien Arroyo.
The Mariners responded well, scoring five more runs in the sixth to put it out of reach. Noah Peterson delivered the big blow with a two-RBI single down the right field line.
