The College of Marin baseball team completed a three-game sweep over Butte between February 12-13, securing victories of 19-14, 10-5, and 13-6.
In the series opener on Feb. 12, Marin defeated Butte 19-14. Marin trailed 7-3 heading into the fourth inning before scoring three runs to cut the deficit to one. After trading runs through the middle innings, a nine-run ninth inning secured the win after Marin had fallen behind 14-10 in the eighth. Adrian Ruiz collected two hits and four RBIs, while Patrick Kozielec recorded four hits and two RBIs. Aiden Romero also contributed with three hits and three RBIs.
The Mariners took the second game 10-5 on Feb. 13. Butte took a 4-0 lead through four innings. Marin responded with four runs in the sixth inning to tie the game. After taking a 5-4 lead in the seventh, Marin extended its lead with four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to secure the win. Aiden Romero again led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Ben Sebastiani and Dante Caiati each drove in three runs. John Bullock added three hits.
Marin completed the sweep with a 13-6 victory in the final game of the series. Butte scored first in the second inning. Marin responded with seven runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to build a significant lead. After Butte scored five runs in the seventh, Marin answered with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to regain control. Ben Sebastiani had a strong performance with three hits and four RBIs, while Dante Caiati also drove in four runs. Patrick Kozielec recorded three runs and one RBI.
