Mariners Sweep Napa Valley in Series

Mariners Sweep Napa Valley in Series

The College of Marin Mariners delivered a powerful message in Bay Valley Conference Week 3, sweeping Napa Valley College in a dominant three-game set to stay red-hot in conference play. Across the board, the Mariners showed off timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and enough pitching depth to keep the Storm in check all weekend long.

Game 1 – Offensive Explosion Opens the Series (W, 13-5)

Marin’s bats came alive in the middle innings of the series opener, erupting for 11 runs in the fourth and fifth to turn a scoreless game into a blowout. Caden Sta Maria headlined the offensive outburst with a 2-run homer and 3 RBIs, while Wyatt Davis chipped in 3 RBIs on a pair of clutch singles.

The Mariners took full advantage of wild pitches, errors, and extra opportunities, scoring multiple unearned runs and swiping three bags in the process. On the mound, Charles Veley was sharp over 6 shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out five. Though a rocky ninth let a few runs in, the outcome was never in doubt after Marin’s big innings.

Game 2 – Power and Depth Shine at Home (W, 10-4)

Back at home, the Mariners continued their roll. After falling behind early, Marin answered with three runs in the third, sparked by a 2-run single from Caden Sta Maria, followed by a go-ahead sac fly from Logan Fiene.

In the later innings, the Mariners padded the lead with extra-base pop: Kisho Li Kircher launched a solo homer and added a sac fly, while Derek Bartram went deep in the eighth to cap the scoring. Adrian Ruiz drove in a pair and swiped a base, while Marin stole four bases total in a classic display of pressure baseball.

On the mound, Anthony Del Prete settled in after a shaky start, going 5.1 innings for his fifth win, with David Skaggs and Samuel Schnitzer holding down the late innings.

Game 3 – Marin Holds On for the Sweep (W, 7-5)

Looking for the sweep on the road, Marin built an early lead behind a monster day from Wyatt Davis, who went 4-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Derek Bartram, Caden Sta Maria, and Adrian Ruiz each added RBI hits as the Mariners kept the pressure on the Storm’s pitchers.

After building a 7-2 lead, Marin had to navigate late trouble as Napa Valley threatened in the seventh and eighth. But the bullpen held on, with Samuel Schnitzer and David Skaggs combining to secure the final outs and wrap up the sweep.
