College of Marin Athletics proudly announces Matteo Mendoza as the Mariner of the Year, celebrating his outstanding contributions and achievements in the 2023-2024 season. 

Matteo transferred to the College of Marin from Cal State San Bernardino in 2023 and quickly became a cornerstone of the Mariners' baseball team. His impressive performance this season has not only earned him individual accolades but also significantly boosted the team's competitive edge. 

With a remarkable batting average of .445, Matteo ranked 4th in the entire 3C2A, showcasing his exceptional skill and consistency at the plate. His season stats further highlight his skillfulness: 137 at bats, 34 runs, 61 hits, 12 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, and 42 RBIs. These numbers are a testament to his hard work and dedication, making him a standout player on the field. 

In addition to being named Mariner of the Year, Matteo was also honored with a Bay Valley First Team All-Conference selection, underscoring his impact and excellence throughout the season. 

As Matteo prepares to transfer and compete at a four-year university, the College of Marin community extends heartfelt congratulations on his tremendous accomplishments. His legacy will inspire future Mariners, and his next team will undoubtedly benefit from his talent and leadership.
