Sophomore Volleyball player Alejandra Leon was named as Co-Mariner of the Month for November. The outside hitter was excellent in November with double doubles in the each of the final three matches of her Mariners’ career. In November she averaged 4.6 points per set, 4.3 kills per set and 4.3 digs per set, all season highs.
The second year outside hitter finished out the 2018 season in style with three excellent matches against Alameda, Solano and Yuba. Injuries to teammates gave Leon the opportunity to dominate in the attack down the stretch.
The Drake High School graduate had a career best game on November 2nd against College of Alameda where she registered 20 kills in the match. The Mariners dispatched the Cougars in four sets and Leon was in the middle of everything. She had 21 points from 20 kills and an ace, and added 12 digs on the evening.
Marin was tasked with a difficult match at Solano on November 7th. While the Mariners fell in straight sets, Leon gave it her all to keep her team in the match. She compiled an excellent stat line in the match, with 11 kills, two aces, an assist and 15 digs.
Leon’s final match of her Marin indoor career came just two days later at Yuba College. She had another tremendous match in her team’s 3-0 loss with 12 kills, two assists, and 16 digs.
Alejandra Leon displayed a great deal of skill, drive and desire in her two seasons at College of Marin and her final month may have been her finest.
