College of Marin Volleyball easily dispatched their competition from Ukiah on Friday. The Mariners made the trip north on 101 to take on the Eagles of Mendocino College. They swept through their hosts with the closest set being the third at 25-18. The win was Marin's fifth consecutive in conference play with a big week against leader Los Medanos upcoming. Outside hitters Salomi Galodamu and Alejandra Leon led the way, each with double digit kills.
Marin started off on fire, pummeling the Mendocino defense with several savage attacks from the outside. As a team the Mariners hit .303 in the first set with 13 kills and just three errors in a 25-10 victory.
The second set was similar with a .367 kill rate which led to a 25-15 victory. The Mariners had another 13 kills against just two errors while taking a commanding advantage in the match. They let up a bit in the final set winning by just seven 25-18, but they still controlled the entire way and never let Mendocino get comfortable.
Galodamu led all players in kills and points with 13 and 17 respectively. She had just four errors in 34 attacks for a .265 hitting percentage. She added three aces, two block assists, eight digs and three assists for good measure. Leon was even better in the attack with 11 kills and a single hitting error for a .435 kill percentage, her best performance of the season. She had a double double on the event with 13 digs as well. Sarah Harris was solid as well with four kills, 29 assists, four aces and five digs for an eight-point evening.
The win pushed Marin's record to 11-7 overall and 8-2 in conference, just two games behind the leading Los Medanos Mustangs for first place.
