College of Marin Volleyball took their talented act on the road on Wednesday and delivered a victory over the Napa Valley College Storm. Marin made quick work of their hosts with a sweep 25-12, 25-14 and 25-19. Sophomore outside hitters Alejandra Leon and Salomi Galodamu each recorded a double-double in the match.
Marin was brutally efficient throughout the match. While Napa made hitting errors the Mariners were nearly perfect in the first set, easily dispatching their foes 25-12. The second set was much of the same, and although Napa was certainly more competitive than in the first, Marin still managed to down the Storm by double digits 25-14. The third set was the closest of the match, but Marin did more than enough to stay on top and in control as they finished off their sweep 25-19.
Overall the Mariners dominated statistically, hitting .245 as a team with 34 kills and just 11 hitting errors in 94 attacks. Napa hit -.070 with just 18 kills against 24 errors in 86 total attacks.
Galodamu led all players with 14 kills, was tops in solo blocks with three, and added two aces for a 19-point evening. She hit .444 with just two errors in 27 attacks and added 10 digs and two assists as well.
Not to be outdone, Leon matched her teammate hit for hit. Marin's number eight hit .393 in the match with 13 kills and only two errors in 28 attacks. She added two aces and an assist to go along with a team high 16 digs on the evening.
Sarah Harris led the team with 17 assists and had five kills with no hitting errors. She also had six digs and four block assists. Nattasia Ferrin was excellent in the middle with one solo block and three block assists.
The win propelled Marin into sole possession of third place in the Bay Valley Conference with a 6-2 record behind 8-0 Los Medanos and 8-1 Solano College.
