Marin continued their run of excellent play with a clean 3-0 victory over Contra Costa College on Friday. From the first serve it was clear the Mariners were the superior team and their played like it the entire match. All nine players made contributions to the victory and nine of ten players scored for the Mariners.
Marin opened up a big lead early in the first set and cruised to a 25-16 victory. The second set was even better than the first as the Mariners took it by a score of 25-10. The third was a bit more competitive but Marin still won by a 25-16 score line. The advantageous scores gave the Mariners a chance to get every player involved.
Salomi Galodamu had seven kills and six digs on the outside. Sarah Harris filled up the stat sheet with 25 assists, four aces, four digs, three kills and a block. Alejandra Leon led Marin with eight points from six kills and two aces, she also led the team with nine digs. Bella De Souza added seven kills on fourteen attacks for a .500 hitting percentage on the evening.
"It was a collective effort tonight and it was great to get back into the gym after being off for two weeks." Said Head Coach Lisa Gera "We continued to get better as the sets progressed, and saw great offensive improvements from our middles Elisa Steele and Ashley Chanthongthip."
Steele had three kills, an ace and a dig, while Chanthongthip had two kills and a very athletic block.
Next up for the Mariners is a three game week, at home against Laney College on Monday, October 23rd, at Yuba College on the 25th and at home against Napa Valley College on the 27th.
