A tentative first half gave way to an exciting second half in the final game of the season for the College of Marin Women's Soccer Team. Merritt scored first in the second half and Marin quickly responded to tie the game at 1-1. The tie lasted a mere twelve minutes before Merritt scored the decisive goal to give the visitors a 2-1 win.
A scoreless first half led to a roller coaster beginning to the second half of the match. Vanessa Carranza scored off pass from Zoe Glover to put Merritt on top 1-0 in the 50th minute. The Mariners responded immediately as Tatum Robach netted in the 53rd minute to tie the game at one goal each. The tie was short lived as Monica Zuranich latched on to a pass from Hel Say and beat the Marin keeper to take a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute.
Marin continued to look for the tying goal, but were denied as their season ended with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Merritt College. Robach scored her team leading fourth goal of the season in the loss.
Coach Andrew Jones on the last game of the year, "Even though we were not able to get the result, our team was pleased with the way we finished the season. We showed we're able to come together, improve every game, and be competitive with any team in our conference."
With only two sophomores on the squad, Marin has the opportunity to be very competitive next season with a wealth of returning talent.
