College of Marin Track fielded a small team on Friday, but the duo that did compete showed their mettle. Freshman Brandon Lee and sophomore Megan Bartschat were the only Mariners to participate but each did very well in their own right.
Lee opened the day for Marin with a 58.35 second performance in the 400-meter dash. He was up against a tough field but managed to set his own personal best in the event. He will look to improve that time in the remaining meets in the 2019 season.
Bartschat blew past her own personal best in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:03.91. Her previous best was 5:14.11 at the Aggie Open and on her current pace she is likely to break the five-minute mark by season's end. With her time, Bartschat is fifth in Northern California and 16th in the state on the California Performance List.
The Mariners have a week of training and recovery before they visit American River College on Friday, April 12th for the American River Invitational.
