Mariners Fall Late To Folsom Lake 101-83

College of Marin Basketball knows how to fight, but winning is not coming as easily as they would like. The Mariners traveled to Folsom to take on the Folsom Lake Falcons on Tuesday evening and fell by a final score of 101-83. The game was close throughout the first half, but Marin went cold and Folsom Lake got hot in the latter stages of the second half to contribute to the final wide margin. Zamaria Odom and Joey Potts each had excellent nights offensively for the Mariners with 26 and 22 points respectively.

The Mariners shook off rust early to deliver an excellent offensive first half against the Falcons. Marin scored 42 in the first half and trailed the Folsom Lake Falcons by a deuce 44-42 after 20 minutes of competition. Jalen Chandler scored six first half points, Odom had 10 and Potts 12. Falcon's guard Matt Lyon led the way with 16 points coming from three made threes and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line.

Fouls and free throws proved to be decisive in the second half as the Falcons continuously extended their first half lead, first to double digits, and then to nearly 20 by the end of the game. Marin's shooting waned and Folsom Lake got hot as the game slipped away down the stretch. Potts added 10 more in the second half and Odom had 16 more. RJ Cutkelvin had a nice second half with eight points as well.

Marin shot 10 free throws in the first half, while Folsom took 13 in the same span. The second half however had a cavernous divide.
