Men's Basketball Reaches Nor Cal Finals In 2014-2015 Season

The College of Marin Men's team had their finest season in over two decades. The team was Bay Valley Conference Champions with an outstanding 15-1 record in conference and an overall record of 26-4. The team finished the season on a 12 game conference winning streak. They stormed through their first playoff game against Skyline College winning 77-61. Their second round opponent Cosumnes River proved a more formidable opponent but the Mariners prevailed 79-72. The Nor Cal Regional Final against Canada College was a taught affair with the Mariners falling 73-70. Despite the loss, the team finished the season ranked in the top ten of the state.

Pierre Carter was the Most Valuable Player in the Bay Valley Conference averaging 13.8 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game and shooting 38.3% from beyond the arc. In the playoff game against Cosumnes River he carried the team to victory with a 34 point performance including 12-16 shooting from the field. He was also one of twelve players named to the All-State Nor Cal Team. Pierre will continue his playing career at Cal State East Bay in the fall.

Sophomore forward Brandon Kenilvort was a versatile player for the Mariners during the season averaging 7.7 points per game, and 5.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.6 percent from three point range. A first team All-Conference player in the Bay Valley Conference.
