College of Marin Volleyball player Tate Dobbins and Men’s Basketball player George Johnson were named Mariners of the Month for November.
Tate Dobbins competed in five matches in November averaging 17.2 kills per match with a hitting percentage of .308 from 201 total attacks. She also averaged 9.4 digs and 2 assists per match. She had two outstanding matches in November. In a tough five set loss to Laney on November 6th, she posted a double double with 20 kills, and 12 digs. In the final match of the season against Mendocino, the Dobbins led the Mariners to a 3-2 victory and had an incredible 22 kills, 24 digs and five aces. The freshman outside hitter was named to the Bay Valley All-Conference Second Team for the 2015 season.
George Johnson is one of only two returners to the Men’s Basketball team in the 2015-2016 season. The point guard recently complete an excellent month of November. In nine games Johnson averaged 17.4 points per game, while shooting .388 from three point range and .823 from the free throw line. He is also averaging 3.8 rebounds per game and 3.6 assists per game in November. Against Alameda College in the CCSF tournament Johnson scored 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out eight assists in the Mariners 99-93 loss. Less than a week later against Lassen College at the Allan Hancock Tournament, Johnson again dominated with 32 points on 6-8 from beyond the arc, with three boards and five assists in a 97-84 win. Johnson is looking to lead his team to a second consecutive Bay Valley Conference Championship.
